About
AACMS will declare a Virtual Learning Day when in-person instruction is not possible due to weather, building issues, utility failure, public health concerns, or other circumstances. This allows us to adhere to our school calendar without interruption or adding days at the end of the year. Our full, board-approved, Virtual Learning Day Policy can be viewed here.
Virtual Learning Day Procedure
When a Virtual Learning Day is called, AACMS will follow our 2-hr Delay Schedule. Virtual classes will NOT be held; however, professional and instructional-based support staff will be available to support students through their school-issued email and Schoology accounts during this time. Teachers may choose to hold virtual office hours throughout the day.
Students will access their work through the AACMS’s classroom management platform (Schoology) and complete the virtual work at their own pace (asynchronous). Communication regarding virtual activities for the day will come from your child’s teacher as soon as possible, but no later than the morning of the weather event or AACMS emergency. Instructions on how to login to Schoology can be found here.
AACMS will track attendance based on student work completion. Per PDE guidelines, students must complete and submit the virtual learning assignments electronically on the day of the Virtual/Remote Learning Day or immediately upon arriving at school the following day to receive attendance credit. Students will be marked with an unexcused absence if they do not complete the work unless the student is reported off for illness. Students who are ill will need to make up the work upon returning to school. We recommend you practice logging into Schoology with your student so you are prepared when we declare the next Virtual Learning Day.
If your child is ill, please follow our regular absenteeism reporting procedure, by emailing attendance@aacms.org or dialing 610-351-0234, option 1 to report an absence.
