Olive Clark-Ortiz
Olive will be throwing out the first pitch for the Iron Pigs vs Buffalo Bisons game at Coca-Cola Park on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 6:35 PM ET!
She is being bestowed this honor connected to her advocacy work she did with her mom a few years ago to get a very important law passed in PA: Automated Enforcement Law
When Olive was in kindergarten, she and her mom narrowly escaped being hit by a speeding car when attempting to board her bus in her first week of school. Here is an article and a short video about what happened: Article about our experience NBC10 interview
Her mom then took action to get a law passed in PA to make it so no other parent would have to go through what they did. Olive accompanied her to Harrisburg to speak to senators and representatives, she walked miles in neighborhoods with her mom to get petitions signed, she spoke at City Council (at the age of 5!) and on the steps of the capital rotunda in Harrisburg, and she was with her mom in the gallery past midnight the night the law finally passed in the Harrisburg capital building.
Bus Patrol is the company who conducted the pilot program and now installs the no-cost cameras on school buses in many districts in PA. They are sponsoring this baseball game on May 9th, and they reached out to ask if Olive would throw out the first pitch! Congratulations, Olive!
